ABOUT ME

Hi, I’m Cara.

I am a physiotherapist, trainer, and dance performance coach in Ottawa, Canada.

Simply put, I help people get back to doing the things they love. I am a huge advocate for enjoying life, and I truly believe that maintaining optimal physical health and wellness is a pillar to making that happen. Whether you’re an athlete, a weekend warrior, or navigating how to stay active as you age, physiotherapy can be a vehicle to keep you on course and help you achieve your goals.

The importance of movement and being active was instilled in me from a very young age. I was very fortunate to have parents who valued physical health, and therefore was exposed to all sorts of activities and adventures for as far back as I can remember. I spent my summers water skiing and kneeboarding, my winters downhill skiing, and everyday after school at the dance studio. I competed provincially, nationally, and internationally as a dancer which eventually led me to Jackson, Mississippi to pursue dance on a professional level after graduating high school. Throughout my years in sport, specifically when I was dancing full-time, I became fascinated with the human body and all the systems that must work so delicately and intricately together in order for us to perform at our highest possible potential. It was this, as well as the many hours I spent with my physiotherapist recovering from injuries, that after 3 years in the states, brought me home to pursue my Honours Bachelors in Human Kinetics at the University of Ottawa and subsequently my Masters in Physical Therapy at McGill University.

Since graduating, I have been privileged to work with a wide variety of athletes, dancers, teams, and the general public to help them identify gaps in their training/lifestyle and create an appropriate course of action to get them to where they aspire to be. I am so lucky to truly mean it when I say I absolutely love what I get to do - breaking through barriers, discovering untapped potential, achieving personal bests, and seeing the joy and fulfillment that brings people, will never get old.

When I am not at the clinic, you’ll find me exploring nature through a hike, walk, or run; strength training at a local gym; discovering new places for good eats, coffee, and wine; learning a new skill/reading books and research; or spending time with the people that mean the most to me - my hubs (and our fur baby French Bulldog Reggie), my family, and my friends
